Overview
A clear, careful approach to your digestive concern.
A gastroenterology consultation is the starting point for understanding persistent digestive symptoms, screening needs, liver concerns, prior test results, and the next step that fits your health history.
03
What happens at a gastroenterology consultation?
Your first visit is a focused conversation about the symptoms that brought you in, how long they have been present, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect daily life. Dr. Vijaya Dasari also reviews medications, prior tests, family history, diet, and other health conditions before recommending next steps. The goal is to leave the visit with a clear explanation and a practical plan.
04
Who should schedule a GI consultation?
A consultation may help when abdominal pain, reflux, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, rectal bleeding, swallowing difficulty, anemia, abnormal liver tests, or other digestive concerns persist or return. It is also the usual starting point for colon cancer screening, procedure planning, a second opinion, or follow-up after an emergency-room or primary-care evaluation.
05
Testing and treatment decisions
Not every symptom requires a procedure. Depending on your history and examination, the plan may include laboratory tests, imaging, medication changes, nutrition guidance, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, liver evaluation, or careful observation. Dr. Dasari explains why a test may help, what alternatives exist, and how results will affect treatment.
06
Preparing for your appointment
Bring a photo ID, insurance card, current medication and supplement list, relevant laboratory or imaging reports, prior endoscopy or colonoscopy results, and referral paperwork if your plan requires it. Write down your main symptoms and questions so the visit can focus on what matters most to you.
